You may not find The Savvy Traveler quite like any other travel site you have visited. That’s because it is based on real experiences from the authors’ own travels. The countries and places we cover are those we have visited or are currently researching for visiting in the near future. We tell you about our experiences and what we enjoyed most about the places we have traveled. If you are interested in learning about them, simply click on the country page, and find out what we have learned.
This is the first edition of our new WordPress-based version of the site. While it represents a leap forward in technology and the ability to manage our content, any time such drastic changes are made we are bound to get something wrong. We hope you will let us know when you find such things so we can correct them promptly. If we have a typo, the wrong image someplace or even if the navigation seems not to make some sense, we can fix it when we find it. But you can help us find it faster so the site is better for you and all our visitors, so don’t be shy, please.
You can explore the site any way you like, but we have arranged it into 3 broad categories: Plan, Book and Enjoy. We recommend that you start with planning your trip by reading the country overviews and articles on the various places. Once you know where you want to go, take a look at the booking section. We’ve given a lot of thought to how to provide links to our favorite providers without intruding on your user experience. What we decided to do is concentrate these in the Book section as a group of tools, where you will find our favorite ways to book travel. We pay a lot of attention to real traveler reviews, so we like to use sites that provide as much information as possible for you from the perspective of other travelers. These are the links we use ourselves, so they are tried and tested.
Finally, we want you to enjoy your travel experience. We have some ideas of how to make this happen, so we will be discussing them in the Enjoy section.
We’re not perfect, of course. That’s why we encourage your feedback to help us make our site better. We hope we are providing a valuable resource for you to learn about our favorite places and see why we have come to love Europe – and, of course the British Isles. If we are doing a good job, or if we are falling short, please don’t hesitate to let us know. Above all, thank you for visiting our site!
Remember: MEMORIES are made of what you did – not merely what you saw!
